A few days ago our server crashed! It just could not handle the load of the increased traffic due to a photo contest on theAsianparent.com, Singapore edition. The contest had barely been up for a few hours when this happened. We were thrilled. We had been looking forward to this for a while now and finally it happened!
We have now upgraded to a more robust dedicated solution from Poznet, Singapore. We are hoping that crashes soon as well!
PS: Check out the wonderful pictures that caused the server crash here.

Leading online parenting magazine theAsianparent.com expands into India and Indonesia
Local language versions in more Asian markets to follow in 2010
January 2010 – theAsianparent.com, Singapore’s largest online parenting magazine today announced the launch of theAsianparent.com Indonesia and theAsianparent.com India.
theAsianparent.com Singapore was launched in June 2008, and is today the most popular online parenting magazine in the country, featuring over 2,000 articles, an active user forum, directory listings and engaging contests. It reaches out to over 60,000 parents and serves a growing advertiser base consisting of major players in the parenting domain, such as Nestlé (SIX: NESN) and Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT).
“The region lacks parenting resources that focus on parenting from an Asian perspective. This motivated us to create theAsianparent.com. Launching in Indonesia and India opens up two major regional markets that boast a growing middle-class and a rapidly increasing internet penetration. Both the Indian and Indonesian editions will have local content created by dedicated editorial teams” said Shalu Wasu, Director, Community Engagement and co-founder of Tickled Media.
“We have managed to build a huge community of over 15,000 parents from India and Indonesia during the soft launch itself, so I am very excited about the potential of these two markets”, added Roshni Mahtani, Director, Business Development and co-founder of Tickled Media.
theAsianparent.com aims to build Asia’s largest community of parents with engaging and original articles, videos, podcasts and useful online applications for parents. The sites target a wide spectrum of readers, ranging from couples who are trying to conceive to parents with children up to the age of 13.
theAsianparent.com will be expanding to China, Malaysia and Thailand by the end of 2010.
